Let your age be x.

your mother's age = 2x + 12.

After 8 years:

Your age = x + 8.

Your mother's age will be 3(x + 8) - 20

= 3x + 24 - 20

= 3x + 4.

Now,

This is equal to 2x + 12 + 8 = 2x + 20

2x + 20 = 3x + 4

3x - 2x = 20 - 4

x = 16

now your age = 16

Your mother's age = 2 x 16 + 12

= 32 + 12

= 44

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

let x and y be the age of my mother and me now respectively.

x=12+2y---------------1

x+8=3(y+8)-20------2

from 2,

x=3y-4-----------------3

sub 3 into 1.

3y-4=12+2y

3y-2y=12+4

y=16

sub y=16 into 3.

x=3(16)-4

x=44

my mother is 44 years old and i am 16 years old.
