It shows that the mother is selfless and love her children unconditionally and never want her children to die even if her own life will be gone by saving theirs!!

The poet's mother loved her children dearly and even after bearing so much pain due to the scorpion's sting the only thing she could do was to thank god for choosing her as the scorpion's victim.
