Question:

Preparation an assignment on the topic "Zones of a candle flame" with diagram.

Solution:

Candle flame consists three zones. These zones are:

  1. Innermost Zone
  2. Middle Zone
  3. Outer Zone

Let's understand these zones in detail:

(i)Innermost Zone: Innermost Zone of flame is of dark or of black colour. Innermost zone of flame consists hot and unburnt vapour of combustible materials. This part of flame is Least hot part.

(ii)Middle Zone: Middle Zone of flame is of yellow colour. This zone of flame is luminous and bright. Fuel vapour burn incomplete in this zone which results, middle Zone of flame produces Carbon particles. Middle Zone of flame is luminous because, when flame produces Carbon particles, it become white hot and emit their own light. These carbon particles leaves the flame as Smoke.

This zone of flame produces Moderate hit or temperature.

(iii)Outer Zone: Outer Zone of flame is blue in colour. This zone doesn't produces much light so it is also called Non - Luminous Zone. In outer most zone, due to presence of plenty air around it, complete combustion of fuel take place there. Outer most zone of flame is the hottest part of flame and having highest temperature.
