- Hume - Rothery rules :-
foe substitutional solid solution -
- the differences b/w radius of solute of solvent should be less than 15 % .
- The crystal structure of solute and solvent should be similar .
- The solute particles should be completely dissolved in solvent .
- In the solution electronegativity of solute and solvent should be similar .
for interstitial solid solution :-
- The differences between radius of solute and solvent should be more then 15% .
- the e.n should be similar .
- the valance of both elements ( solute and solvent ) should be equal .
