The Himalayan villages lie in valleys, where there are small streams and farm lands.

·      The houses have slopped roofs and mostly during the roofs are covered with Pumpkins, left to ripen in the sun.

·      Our author has stayed at his friend’s house, at that night he heard some rumbling noise over the roof.

·      His friend said it was the bears which was after the pumpkins.

·      The bears come downhill during the winter in search of food.

·      The village folks had advised the author to run downhill if he was being chased by a bear, as it is hard for a bear to run downhill than uphill.

·      The Himalayan bears likes to eat pumpkins, plums and apricots.

·      Once the author has seen a bear which was little more than a cub and carefully observed his activities, which was very interesting for the author.

·      The little bear, made himself through the plum tree and when he noticed that the author was looking at him, he gets disturbed and tries to hide away from him.

·      But the author plays with the bear, by hiding himself and suddenly burst out of laughter, when the bears thinks he has gone.

·      This makes the bear to fall down from the branch, but he is unhurt and starts running towards the hill clearing his way.
