I'm not saying your wrong but there are many possibilities here! "had" is one of them but also "had" is a past tense word. The uncle may still have a good profit. There could also be "My uncle told me that he has a good profit." or "My uncle told me that he made/makes a good profit." Your answer is fine the way it is I just hope I helped you see some other answer choices as well. This question is a good one because there are so many possible answers to it!
