Given : watch had stopped at 10 o’ clock. In two minutes’ time it will  be twice as many minutes short of 11 as it was past 10 o’clock 25 minutes

To Find :  What was the correct time

Solution:

Let say Correct time  = 10 hr  M minutes

Time past 10: 25  =  M - 25  minutes

Time Short of 11  = 60 - M  Minutes

After 2 Minutes Time Short = 60 - M - 2  = 58 - M   Minutes

58 - M  = 2(M - 25)

=> 58 - M = 2M - 50

=> 3M = 108

=> M = 36

Correct time was  10:36
