Given :-

  1. Piece of cloth is 1 m 25 cm wide and 4 m long
  2. The perimeter of a rectangular grassy plot is 189 m and breadth is 10.5 m.

To find :-

  1. Area of rectangular piece
  2. Length and area of plot

Solution :-

According to the first question

  • Length of cloth (l) = 4m
  • Breadth of cloth (b) = 1m 25cm

1m = 100cm

  • Breadth of cloth = 1m + 25/100 = 1.25m

Now, area of rectangular piece of cloth

As we know that

Area of rectangle = length × breadth

Area of rectangle = 4 × 1.25

Area of rectangle = 5m²

So,

  • Area of rectangular piece of cloth is 5m²

According to the second question

  • Perimeter of rectangular grassy = 189m
  • Breadth of rectangular grassy = 10.5m

As we know that

→ Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + breadth)

→ 189 = 2(l + b)

→ 189 = 2(l + 10.5)

→ 189 = 2l + 21

→ 189 - 21 = 2l

→ 168 = 2l

→ l = 168/2 = 84m

Therefore, length of rectangular grassy is 84m

Now, area of rectangular grassy

→ length × breadth

Put the value of length and breadth

→ 84 × 10.5

→ 882m²

Hence,

  • Area of rectangular grassy is 882m²
