The median class would be 30-40 .

Given

  • frequency distribution

To find

  • median class

Solution

we are provided with a class interval type of frequency distribution and are asked to find the median class of the class interval.

we know that in order to find the median class of a class interval type of distribution we have to find the cumulative frequency which could be less than type cumulative frequency or greater than type.

In this case we move I had with less than type cumulative frequency.

(refer the attachment for the table)

Here, N = 60

therefore,

N/2 = 60/2

or, 30

we have to identify the class having the cf greater than or equal to 30.

From the table it could be understood that the class with the provided criteria is 30 - 40

Therefore, the median class would be 30-40

Answer: The median class would be 30-40 .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : frequency distribution

To find : median class

Solution :

We are provided with a class interval type of frequency distribution and are asked to find the median class of the class interval .

We know that, in order to find the median class of a class interval type of distribution we have to find the cumulative frequency which could be less than type cumulative frequency or greater than type.

In this case we move I had with less than type cumulative frequency.

Here, N = 60

therefore,

N/2 = 60/2 = 30

We have to identify the class having the cf greater than or equal to 30.

                                F                CF

0 - 10                        5                5

10 - 20                     8                13

20 - 30                    12               25

30 - 40                    15               40

40 - 50                    20             60

Therefore, the median class would be 30-40
