Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of pyruvate to lactate, along with NADH to NAD+, during glycolysis in conditions of hypoxia.

The concentration of LDH is elevated in serum as a result of organ infarction and significant cell death that results in loss of cytoplasm.

Hope this helps you ☺️☺️☺️
