The Himalayan Rivers:-

The major Himalayan rivers are the Indus, the Ganga and Brahmaputra. These rivers are long and are joined by many large and important tributaries. They unknown for their large drainage basin.

The Peninsular Rivers :-

The main peninsular rivers are the Narmada, the Tapi, the Godavari, the Mahanadi, the Krishna and the Kaveri river. The Peninsular rivers are different from the Himalayan rivers as they are short and have a narrow drainage pattern.
