The reaction of sodium bicarbonate and acetic acid forms the salt sodium acetate, plus carbon dioxide gas and water;-

NaHCO3 + CH3COOH ——→ CH3COONa + H2O + CO2

Because carbon dioxide is a gas, the mixture will foam as carbon dioxide is produced and the gas expands in volume. This reaction is the basis for the familiar “erupting volcano” which you may have made as a science project or seen at a science fair
