Before becoming the 2nd Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri served two positions in the administration, one as the State Minister, and second as the Cabinet Minister.
After independence, he became the Parliamentary Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, and was appointed as the Minister of Police & Transport under the CM Govind Ballabh Pant.
In 1951, he became the General Secretary of AICC under the PM Jawaharlal Nehru.
