To be honest, I would only need one thing. A letter.
When my youngest daughter was born I wrote her an elaborate letter. It took up an entire Moleskine journal when I was done. It was a love letter of sorts. A “message in a bottle” that I hurled into the sea of time for her. I told her in the letter that I knew it would “wash up on the shores of her life” over and over again at different stages. My hope was that my story would mean different things to her at each stage of her life. After I wrote this for her, I repeated the process for each of my other two daughters.
I can’t think of anything better to explain to others later in the world how I lived my life than my own explaination in my own words.
