cold Benguela Current washes the shores of south-west Africa and has a cooling  

influence on the adjacent land. Winds blows over these cold currents become  

cold and do not pickup moisture. On the other hand when winds blow over the  

warm Mozambique Current they become warm, expand and carry moisture  

from the ocean. These wind bring rain to the south-east coast
