Answer:
Andaman and Nicobar Islands is the group of islands lying in the East of the Indian Subcontinent.
Explanation:
In the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent, at the juncture of the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea, lies the archipelago Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It's two groups of Islands, the Andaman Islands in the north and the Nicobar Islands in the south with the Ten Degree Channel in between, consisting of 572 Islands. It's part of the Indian mainland and is a union territory of India, with Port Blair as its capital.
Among the 572 islands, only 37 are inhabited and only 10% of the total population is residing in the Nicobar Islands. The original inhabitants of the archipelago are the Great Andamanese, the Onge, the Jarawa, the Nicobarese, the Shompen, the Karen and the Sentinelese. However, there has been a large amount of migration to the islands since the 1960s.
