Plants are generally autotrophic in nature because they contain chlorophyll. But a few members are partially heterotrophic i.e., they are not independent for their nutrition.
(a) Insectivorous plants : Some plants have modified leaves which are used in traping the insects within the leaves so that the insects are killed. Now it is digested by the enzymes secreted by the epidermis of leaves. Example : Venus fly, Bladderwort etc.
(b) Parasite plants : Some plants have special and modified organs which penetrate into the host plant to absorb solutes and water. Example : Cuscuta.
