Explanation:

Soluble substance like sugar in water can be removed by evaporation. After heating the waters starts evaporating and after sometime the whole waters gets evaporated and the sugar is left in the container.

In sedimentation process, the insoluble impurities like sand in water are separated. The water is allowed to rest for some time. The heavy impurity gets settled at the bottom and then the water is removed to another container with caution.
