Each anther lobe develops two pollen sacs. Thus, a two lobed anther develops four pollen sacs situated at four corners of the anther. The wall layers from periphery to centre consist of:

Answer:

The anther wall is differentiated into 4 layers. The epidermis is outermost layer which is protective in function. The endothecium lies beneath epidermis and is usually single layered. The cells of endothecium are uninucleated and vacuolated. These cells become radially elongated and undergo maximum development for dehiscence of anthers. There are 1-3 middle layers which are rich in reserve food material such as starch. Tapetum is the innermost layer of anther wall and is nutritive and secretory in function.
