Answer:

A bull African bush elephant tusker (especially in musth) could.

African elephants are generally underestimated in term of size. Usually, sites and books reports african elephants to be capable of reach “just” 6 tons or 7 tons, but they can actually grow much bigger (albeit in this times it is much rarer since hunting have genetically shrinking the specie, since it eliminated the largest individuals). The biggest african elephant ever recorded waa male shot in Angola in 1956. He stood 4,2 meters and weighted 12 tons. Elephants tusks can also grow so large that they can almost touch the grund (thus the elephants are known as tuskers) for example Satao’s tusks were over 6.5 feet (2.0 m) long. Imagine how long were the tusks of the mentioned elephant. Unfortunately, we do not see elephants so big in this days because hunting has wiped out the largest males, thus reducing the avarage size of modern populations. The fact that poachers and trophy hunters still kills the biggest elephants they can find is still reducing the possibility to see again such a big elephant.

Tyrannosaurus Rex’ size, on the contrary, is often exaggerated. The largest complete specimen, FMNH PR2081 ("Sue"), measured 12.8 metres (42 ft) long, and was 4.0 metres (13.1 ft) tall at the hips. Mass estimates have varied widely over the years, from more than 7.2 metric tons (7.9 short tons), to less than 4.5 metric tons (5.0 short tons), with most modern estimates ranging between 5.4 and 6.8 metric tons (6.0 and 7.5 short tons). Packard et al. (2009) tested dinosaur mass estimation procedures on elephants and concluded that dinosaur estimations are flawed and produce over-estimations; thus, the weight of Tyrannosaurus could be much less than usually estimated.

This means that, if taken at their peak, the Elephant is taller and heavier while the T-Rex is longer. Now, if such maximum size individuals fights, who would win?

I think it would be very close. The dinosaur has the ability to inflict a severe bite on the elephant, but it may be hard to get in a good position. The elephant, compared to Triceratops and the other animals the T-Rex used to hunt, is very tall (taller than the T-Rex if taken at their peak) with a short, thick neck. Thus would make really difficult for the T-Rex to use his winning tactic (bite, rip out a large portion of meat and then wait until the prey die of blood-lost).

The elephant certainly has the power to kill a T-rex if he charge at him and gore him with his tusks. An elephant’s body strength ansd stability is awesome!

If the elephant charged at the T-Rex, he would have undoubtely knock him to the ground. And once on the ground, the T-Rex would have been unable to lift himself again. The elephant would have proceed squash him with his weight or gore him with his tusks. One charge and the T-rex simply would be too slow to avoid an Elephant’s lethal goring. On the other hand, there a very few places a T-rex could bite on an elephant that would actually be lethal as it must constantly avoid the elephant’s tusks at all costs.

The elephant also boasts a magor intellectual advantage.
