(a). Voltmeter is used for measuring electric potential difference .

(b). Voltmeter is connected in parallel to the electric circuit .

(c). Voltmeter Does not consume electric energy because

  • Its resistance is too high . In ideal case , the resistance is supposed to be infinity .
  • It is connected in parallel . The flowing current to it is negligible due to the high resistance .
