Carbon dioxide transport in the blood.Carbon dioxide is transported in theblood from the tissue to the lungs inthree ways:1 (i) dissolved in solution; (ii) buffered with water as carbonic acid; (iii) bound to proteins, particularly haemoglobin.

Some of the carbon-dioxide is transported dissolved in the plasma.some carbon-dioxide is transported as carbaminohaemoglobin . However most carbon is transported as bicarbonate. As blood flows through the tissue, carbon-dioxide diffuses into RBC where then it is transported as bicarbonate.
