Answer:

There are also a number of sections in the law that explicitly address violence against women and children. Women and children are protected by the Domestic Violence Act, the Criminal Law Amendment (Sexual Offenses and Related Matters) Act, and the Protection from Harassment Act.

Explanation:

1. Domestic Violence Act

India's Parliament passed the Protection of Women from Domestic Abuse Act of 2005 to protect women from domestic violence and to make them feel protected and cherished and to stop the wrongs that has been happening with women. The Indian government and the Ministry of Women and Child Development signed it into law on October 26, 2006.

2. The Criminal Law of Amendment

The bill changes the Indian Penal Code (IPC) of 1860 to raise the minimum sentence for rape of women from seven to ten years. Rape and gang rape of females under the age of 12 years shall result in a minimum sentence of twenty years in jail, with the possibility of life imprisonment or death.

3. Protection from harassment

The Parliament passed the Protection from Harassment Act in 1997. "The goal of this Bill is to protect the victims of harassment," Lord Chancellor Lord Mackay of Clashfern stated in introducing the Bill's second reading in the House of Lords.
