To conert DC to AC we require an inverter. An inverter's function is opposite to that of a rectifier. Inverter is also known as Power inverter. The inverter is basically a electronic oscillator having very high power and can be used in a variety of applications. We can get the AC signal of required frequency and voltage from DC sources by using various control circuits and transformers. Various applications of inverter are as follows :

1)To utilize DC power source- Using the power inverter we can convert DC signal to AC signal and the AC signal can further be used in equipments that require AC signal. In this way DC signal can be utilized from fuel cells, solar panels, batteries etc.

4)Induction heating- The power inverter can be used in induction heating y varying the frequency of the rectified DC signal.
