●The word 'Flashlight' comes from the earlier style torches which required to be turned on and off at regular intervals due to lack of energy supply.
●The very first flashlights were made of a light, battery and a reflector wrapped in paper cylinder.
●It was invented in 1898 by Joshua Lionel Cowen, who originally owned the American Eveready Battery Company.
