we know that nucleus is having the genetic material in it. 
but there is another organelle which has got its own genetic material.
mitochondria which is the powerhouse of cell has got genetic material in it.
( chromosome=> DNA => genes )

furthermore, ribosomes which help in making proteins are also having their own Genetic material. mainly RNA and not DNA.

for plants, chloroplasts have their own genetic material too!
