Revolt of 1857 spread to various parts of the country. Various forces in mutiny joined every other group in three nodal points namely: - Delhi, Kanpur and Lucknow. People in villages and town took violent action against local leaders, zamindars and chief. 

Nana Saheb expelled the British force from the city of Kanpur by gathering his armed force. He also declared himself as a governor under the Mughal Emperor.


Birjis Qadr declared himself the new Nawab in Lucknow. He was the son of the dethroned Nawab Wajid Ali Shah. He also acknowledged the suzerainty of Bahadur Shah. His mother Begum Hazrat Mahal also participated and actively organized the uprising against the British.


Rani Lakshibai joined her rebel sepoys in Jhansi. She fought the British along with Tantia Tope, who was the general of Nana Saheb.
