Political associations in Bengal Presidency:-

1. Bangabhasha Prakashika Sabha- founded in 1836 by the associates of Raja Rammohan Roy.
2. Landholders' Society (aka Zamindari Association)- founded in 1838 by Dwarkanath Tagore, Radhakanta Deb, etc.
3. Bengal British India Society- founded in 1843
4. British Indian Association- formed in 1851 by merging Landholders' Society & Bengal British India Society. Its branches were established in Bombay and Madras in 1852 and were named as Bombay Association and Madras Native Association respectively.
5. India (or Indian) League- founded in 1875 by Sisir Kumar Ghosh.
