Tirot Sing is also known as U Tirot Sing Syiem who was one of the chief of Khasi people.

He declared war against the British to take control of the Khasi Hills and this war is known as Anglo-Khasi War.

Khasi people were untrained and they had only swords, shields, bows and arrows to fight against the British.

But later on, they resorted to guerrilla activity which will last the war for four long years.
