It is the important and well known free living nitrogen fixing aerobicbacterium. It is used as a Bio-Fertilizerfor all non leguminous plants especially rice, cotton, vegetables etc. Azotobacter cells are not present onthe rhizosplane but are abundant inthe rhizosphere region.
