Wheat : Wheat is a commonly used grain for breads across the world. It needs a dry and mild climate to grow. The crop is best grown on loamy soil . The crop needs sufficient warmth and sunshine at the time of ripening.
This crop is not too dependent on the availability of water as compared to rice.
Major wheat producing areas in India are -
Punjab, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh
Rice: Rice is the second most staple food crop of the world . it needs a large amount of water for initial and subsequent growth and therefore it is cultivated in tropical and subtropical areas.
it requires a clayey soil . In India rice is cultivated in eastern coastal strip, Bengal etc.
