The Gangas ruled Gangavadi from Kolar starting c. 350 and later shifted their capital to Talakadu. Gangas ruled until 1024 C.E. The Kongu region was ruled by twenty eight kings before it was conquered by the Cholas of Tanjore. The Hoysala king Vishnuvardhan defeated the Cholas in the battle of Talakad which led to the Hoysalas gaining control over Talakkad.
Modern Bangalore was founded by a feudal of the Vijayanagara Empire Kempe Gowda I.
