Solids, Liquids, Vaporization, Melting, and Gases are states of matter.
1 Solids : Solids have a definite shape. particles are packed tightly together so they are unable to move about very much. Particles of a solid have very low kinetic energy.
2 Liquids : liquids have an indefinite shape. A liquid will change shape to conform to its container. The liquid particles are not held in a regular arrangement, but are still very close to each other so liquids have a definite volume. Liquids, like solids, cannot be compressed.
3 Vaporization :Vaporization is the conversion of a liquid to a gas. Vaporization can occur through either evaporation or boiling. transferring energy when they do so. This energy transference has little net effect beneath the surface, but when enough energy is transferred to a particle near the surfaceit may gain enough energy to be knocked completely away from the sample as a free gas particle. This process is called evaporation .
4 Melting : When heat is applied to a solid, its particles begin to vibrate faster and tend to move farther apart. When the substance, at standard pressure, reaches a certain point called the melting.
5 Gases :is composed of particles packed so loosely that it has neither a defined shape. Gas particles have enough kinetic energy to overcome intermolecular forces that hold solids and liquids together, thus a gas has no definite volume and no definite shape....
hope its help u..

There are Four states of matter. solid, liquid, gas, and plasma.
SOLID;A solid is relatively rigid, has a definite volume and shape. The atoms or molecules that comprise a solid are packed close together and are not compressible.Very strong forces of attraction. The higher the melting point of a substance, the stronger the forces of attraction.
LIQUIDS; Liquids have no definite shape – they take the shape of their container. They have definite volume – they cannot be compressed.. Particles are close together and move randomly. Strong forces of attraction
GASES; Gases have no definite shape – they take the shape of their container. They have no definite volume – they may be compressed.2. Particles are far apart and move randomly. Very weak forces of attraction
PLASMA; a plasma is an ionized gas, a gas into which sufficient energy is provided to free electrons from atoms or molecules and to allow both species, ions and electrons, to coexist. The funny thing about that is, that as far as we know, plasmas are the most common state of matter in the universe.
