There are 3 types of salivary glands.They are:-
1.The parotid gland - It makes serous secretions only.
2.The sublingual glands - It make mucous secretions only.
3.The submandibular glands -It gives serous as well as mucous secretions.
Human saliva is about 99.5% made of water, but it also contains many electrolytes, mucus, antibacterial compounds and various enzymes.
