soil that has developed three layers is called mature soil. it takes many years and the favourable conditions for soil to develop three layers. some soils contain only two layers such a soil is known has immature soil. the top layer of mature soil where most of the plant grow is called horizon A it is also called topsoil. it is often overlaid by a layer of humus .the layer of humus is rich in organic material that content some minerals this layers of soil is soft ,porous and holes enough water.many living organism like earthworm, bacteria, and fungi are present in this layer. the Le just under Horizon Ais called horizon B.it is also called subsoil. it is lighter in colour than the upper layer. so it is also rich in minerals it contain metal salt , especially iron oxide in a large proportion. the bottom layer of the soil is called Horizon C.it is also called rocky layer because it is very hard ,and made up of broken pieces of Rocks. this Layer represents a transition zone between the earth's bedrock and Horizon A and B
