Rats. I was going to joke about concrete floors never breaking due to egg-impact but somebody beat me to it (and then got collapsed.)

There have been several demonstrations of protective insulation packaging systems where a raw egg is placed in XXX Corporation’s packaging and then dropped off a roof to a hard surface. Magic! No breakage.

I have my doubts about the “convert the shell to rubber using vinegar” routine because of what I know about hard objects (projectiles) meeting soft watery materials (flesh) and what the energy transfer of the hydrostatic shock does. No experimental proof though.

I also hypothesize that a fresh raw egg (with little or no air cap inside) might survive a point-down landing on concrete if it is first taken down to liquid nitrogen temperatures. Stuff gets mighty hard at those temperatures. Can’t prove it right now because my liquid nitrogen days are over.
