Mahavir Swami was a successor of Jainism and gave five important vows.

  • The five vows given by Mahavir Swami are -
  1. The vow of Non-violence which is the Ahimsa
  2. The vow of Truth which is the Satya
  3. The vow of Celibacy or Chastity which is the Brahmacharya
  4. The vow of Non-stealing which is the Achaurya or Asteya
  5. The vow of Non-attachment or Non-possession which is the Aparigraha
  • I like the vow of non violence the most as it is essential to live a peaceful and harmonious life. Violence is considered as a crime and leads to nowhere but punishment. It harms self as well as others. Thus, it is always advisable to live in peace.
