As burning fossil fuels remains by far the major source of electricity, less sulfur dioxide will be produced if we use less electricity. ... In addition to carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and some sulfur dioxide, motor vehicle exhaust fumes include nitrogen oxides, which are another cause of acid rain.
