Explanation:

Types of oxides:

1.Acidic oxide

Acidic oxide are the oxide of non metal. When combine with water they produce acid.

eg

So2 + H2O ____ H2SO3

acidic oxide therefore , are also known as acid anhydrite.

2. Basic oxide:

Basic oxide are the oxide of metals. If soluble in water tey react with water to produce hydroxide.

eg

MgO + H2O_____ Mg(OH)2

3.Amphoteric oxide:

Amphoteric are metallic oxide which show both basic as well as acidic properties. When the reaact with acid they produce salt and water showing basic properties. While reacting alkaline they form alt and water showing acidic properties

eg.

ZnO+ 2HCl____ ZnCl2 + H2O

ZnO + 2NaOH______ Na2ZnO2 + H20

Sodium zinate

4.Neutral oxide.

These are the oxide which show neither basic nor acidic propertiesThe dont form salt when the react with acid and base .

eg

CO, N2O etc.

Carbon monoxide , nitrous oxide.
