India's neighboring countries situated in northwest are Pakistan and Afghanistan.

  • India is surrounded by many countries in its western, northern and eastern sides and a majority of southern parts are surrounded by sea.
  • On north-western side of its border, it is surrounded by two countries namely Pakistan and Afghanistan.
  • The international border with Pakistan is formed by Indian states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir.
  • The line that distinguishes state of India and the state of Pakistan is called as Radcliffe Line, named after Sir Cyril Radcliffe, who is considered as chief architect of partition of India in 1947.
