Excretory unit of kidneys are nephron. ...

A nephron is a thin walled , coiled, duct lined by single layer of epithelium tissue.

Total length of each nephron is about 3cm and 20 to 30 micrometer in diameter.

A nephron can divided into two region. .

➡ Bowman's capsule.

➡Renal Tubules.

In each kidneys there are 1 to 1.2 millions nephron are present.

Excretion in human beings include -:

• A pair of kidneys
• A pair of ureter
• Urinary bladder
• Urethra

Kidneys are bean shaped, reddish brown in colour, and lies on the either side of vertiberal column.

On inner concave side of kidney is present a notch known as hilum.

Excretery unit of kidney is Nephron.

Each kidney consists of a million of nephrons. They are the structural and functional unit of kidney.
Nephron consists of two parts -:

• Renal Tubule
• Nephric Tubule

Nephron consists of other components -:

• PCT - Proximal convoluted tubule. It is the initial highly coiled structure after the Bowman's capsule.

• Loop of Henle - It's a U - Shaped structure formed in the middle of nephric tubule having a thin descending limb and thick ascending limb.

•DCT - Distal convulated tubule. It is a coiled structure present at the end of the loop of Henle and joining the collecting duct at the end.

• Collecting duct - They are the larger ducts that recieves tubules from several nephrons which drains the urine into the pelvis and from pelvis, it leads to ureter.
