There are six physiographic division of India
1-Northern mountains including Himalaya and three parallel ranges which runs to longitudinal extent. They were in a shape of arc and formed by collision of Indian and Eurasian plate.
2-Penisular plateau aka Deccan plateau or Central Highlands.Geographically it separate Northern India from Southern India
3-Thar desert which forms a significant portion of Western India including Rajasthan and Gujraat
4-Northern plain aka Indo Gangatic plain. Most populated due to fertile land
5-Coastal plain including East and West coast
6-Islands which are Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadvip group
