Types:

1. Leucoplasts

Functions:

▪ They are the colourless plastids that perform the function of storage of starch, oil and protien granules.

2. Chromoplasts

Functions:

▪ They are the coloured plastids that provide colour to fruits and flowers.

▪ Green coloured plastids are called chloroplast ('kitchen of the cell'). It contains a green pigment called chlorophyll that helps in the process of photosynthesis. They have their own DNA and ribosomes.
