Castor seed and sesamum are grown both rabi and kharif crop. In India crop seasons are three in number: 

(i) Kharif crop,

ii) Rabi crop, and

(iii) Zaid crop,

Kharif crops:

1.) The Khariff crops are cultivated in  monsoon season, in the months of June and July and are harvested in autumn viz.

September and October.Important Khariff crops are rice, jowar, maize, cotton, ragi, bajra, sugarcane and jute.

2.) Rabi crops: The Rabi crops are sown in the period between October and December and harvested in April and May.

Important Rabi crops are wheat, peas, pulses, mustard and rapeseed.
