As pointed out previously by James Flank mountain soils may be very different according to innate characteristics such as parental material, climate, topography and so on. Also, as we very well know, soils may also be different from each other because of the effect of agriculture and other human/society related influences.
Even when macroscopic characteristics such as climate and parental material are known for a specific mountain region, you may find a lot of variation thanks to the highly heterogeneous topography on smaller scales (flat bits vs. steep bits)
Still, we could say in a very loose and general way that mountain soils tend to have thiner and less developed superficial horizonts than planes or depressions (this is mainly because mountains, being defined as elevations of earths surface, present different slopes that are prone to wind and water erosion, which eventually transport material from the higher and steeper parts of the mountain to its base
