India has a democratic state. Our government is elected by the people and the administration of the country is carried on by representatives of the people. The government is run according to some basic rules. The prime duty of the Government to see that everyone is provided with the bare necessities of life and none is compelled to sell his sweat and labour for pittance. After Independence, the establishment of a welfare state became the main objective of the Indian Government. The Governor is the Head of the State.
