There are two types of germination....Epigeal germination ....and hypogeal germination

in hypogeal germination the hypocotyl elongates rapidly and pushes up th cotyledon which move above the soil

Two types of germination are:
Epigeal germination- In this the cotyledons come out of the ground and become photosynthetic.
Hypogeal germination- In this the cotyledons remain non photosynthetic.
