Explanation:

When coal and methane are burnt , CO2 is released.Coal and methane(CH4)mainly contain carbon so burning them specifically gives out CO2.

However burning of coal causes pollution as other acidic gases such as SO2 and NO2 are also released which are considered to be pollutants because on coming in contact with rain, they convert to respective acids (H2SO4 and H3PO4)...
