What is an acid?

➾ An acid is a molecule which contains Hydrogen ion (H^{+} ion). It is sour in taste. Like, lemon, vinegar, etc. An acid can be identified when a red litmus paper changes to blue colour. There are three acids commonly known as strong acids, they are Sulphuric acid (H_2SO_4), Hydrochloric acid (HCl) and Nitric acid (HNO_3)

Steph0303: Nope not necessary. Tomato has both citric acid and oxalic acid. Citric acid is present in raw stage of tomatoes while Oxalic Acid is present in ripened state :)
