The basic filtration unit present in the Kidney is Nephron.

A nephron is the basic filtration unit of the kidney. It is a cluster of thin-walled blood capillaries. The blood is filtered by the glomerulus and enters the Bowman's capsule where the podocytes help in the filtration and the glomerular filtrate is formed.

Its chief function is to regulate water and soluble substances by filtering the blood, reabsorbing what is needed and excreting the rest as urine.

The basic unit present in the kidney are called nephrons. These units are millions in number, actually they increases the surface area of kidney so it become more easy to differentiate amino acid, water and other useful substance and salts from the waste(urine).

Nephrons are consist of bowman capsule, glomerulus, blood capillaries and a collecting duct.
